Wintry Wednesday #7: Christmas Day in Photos!

Hello, I thought I’d round up Christmas once and for all in 2014 by sharing a couple of arty shots from my Christmas Day. I spent the whole day at home with family, but I did get to snap a few pics here and there. I hope you enjoy flicking through these and having a good ol’ snoop. If you’ve done any Christmas Day posts like this then link them below, I’d love to have a nosey 😉

Fifteen Festive Favourites Tag! | cherryblossom15

Hello for the second time today! (who’s impressed??) I thought I’d get thoroughly into the festive spirit and do a tag created by the adorable and hilarious Tom Fletcher on his YouTube channel. I shall tag a few of my favourite people at the end…

01. Festive Food

I love stuffing! I am always the last person still eating, because I eat so much – and my last helping is always just a pile of stuffing soaked in gravy. Ooh, I love gravy too! I am getting so hungry for tomorrow right now, I think it’s  time to stop tormenting myself with all this talk of food!

02. Reindeer

Has to be Blitzen, mainly because I love the sound of the name. And I always seem to be able to remember that one when nobody else can… 🙂

03. Day of Christmas

I’m just going to choose the one I first think of, which happens to be Seven Swans a Swimming. I also love the alliteration of that line, very satisfying!

04. Christmas Song

I’m going to have to choose 3 here, because it is too hard to choose! I love Do They Know It’s Christmas by Band Aid, and of course Wizzard’s I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyay. My two absolute favourites have to be Lonely This Christmas (Mud) and Mistletoe and Wine (Cliff Richard) – gotta love some cheesy festive tunes!

05. Christmas Present

I remember absolutely loving getting my dressmaker’s mannequin about 3 years ago, and I also vividly remember going into the living room of Christmas morning when I was about 8 or 9 and seeing a big purple bicycle with a bow on it!

06. Christmas Film

I don’t watch that much TV around Christmas time because I like to spend me with my family and friends, but I think anything Disney always makes me feel very festive and happy!

07. Christmas Cracker toy

I love the Fortune Teller Fish you get in some of  always seem to be jealous or passionate?!

08. Christmas Cracker joke

What do you get if you cross Santa with a duck? A Christmas Quacker! 😀

09. Decoration

I love the angel we have on the top of our tree every year. She has amazing long silver hair that me and my sister always used to plait into beautiful hairstyles.

10. Candle scent

I love the Yankee Candle Apple Spice Potpourri which I featured in my Room Décor Ideas post a few weeks ago.

11. Christmas advert

I don’t really have a favourite advert, but I always like to see what John Lewis comes up with, and to be honest I love this year. I know there is controversy around the price of Monty The Penguin, but I thought the whole concept of the advert was lovely 🙂

12. Festive Tradition

I love Christmas Day in its entirety, all the presents and the food and the presents and the food…

13. Place to spend Christmas

At home. I can’t imagine spending Christmas anywhere other than with all my family at home. It wouldn’t be Christmas without the fam?!

14. Festive Fact

I have no witty fact to put here, but hopefully the people I tag will have some hilarious thing to put here 😉

15. Snowman accessory

It has to be the carrot, no snowman is complete without a carrot nose right??

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post. I tag Catherine, Soph, Kavi, Maisie, Beth and anyone else who wants to do this! Merry Christmas everyone 🙂 I hope you have an amazing Christmas Day tomorrow!! xx

Wintry Wednesday #4: #BakingWithBlossom Banana Bread | cherryblossom15

Hello! I am a little annoyed at myself for slightly slipping on my pretty good schedule of blogging, but alas, these things happen but I’m back right now…

Today I thought I’d do a #BakingWithBlossom post, and I went for  lovely winter warming recipe today – Banana Bread!

Ingredients:

8oz. self raising flour
1/2 level teaspoon salt
4oz. butter
5oz. caster sugar
4oz. sultanas
1oz. chopped walnuts
3 medium ripe bananas
2 eggs
(milk if the mixture is too dry)

The Method

Sieve the flour, cinnamon and salt into a large mixing bowl. Chuck in the butter which you’ve cut into little cubes, and crumble the mixture until you are left with a bowl of breadcrumb looking stuff! Next mix in the sugar with a wooden spoon and add the raisins and chopped walnuts. Mash the three bananas and add them into the bowl with the eggs and give it all a good ol’ mix! Then pop the whole lovely looking mixture into the loaf tin and pop it in the oven for 45 minutes (may need a little longer depending on how hot your oven is – I have a particularly hot oven) Then you are finished, and 45 minutes later you can enjoy this gorgeous (and not too unhealthy) banana bread – it’s especially amazing when it’s warm!

Thanks for reading and if you try this recipe be sure to Tweet or Instagram a picture, tag me (@CherryB15blog) and use #BakingWithBlossom… 🙂 xx

Wintry Wednesday 3: My Xmas Wishlist

Collage2.jpg

Hello and welcome back to another late Wintry Wednesday! Today I’m doing a little Xmas Wishlist post, because I have been loving reading these recently (I shall link some of my faves at the end…) Enjoy!

01. BodyShop Body Butter in Glazed Apple I would really love to have a BodyShop Butter and this scent absolutely gorgeous – and super festive.

02. LUSH Christmas Pud Bath Bomb This is my favourite LUSH bath bomb of all time, and I always get one at Christmas. I wish this was out all year round!

03. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn I’ve heard so many great things about this book, and I would love to get a chance to read it. Hopefully it’s in my stocking!

04. Real Techniques Core Collection I have been lusting over this brish set for months, and I would be the happiest girl on earth if I got it this Christmas. These brushes are great quality, and I would love to expand my collection.

05. Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet These are relatively new products, but they have had loads of great reviews and they seem kind of similar to the Rimmel Apocalips – so I would love to try them out.

06. Naked 2 Palette I have been lusting over this too for many years. I have never tried anything from Urban Decay, but hopefully that will all change on December 25th!

07. Yankee Candle in Christmas Memories I desperately want any festive scented candle to spice up my room and get the festive spirit going on.

08. ASOS Tartan Scarf I would love a tartan scarf for the colder months, as I think they are so practical but really cute and stylish too. I so hope that I get one of these, so I can jazz up lots of lovely outfits in the new year.

Thanks for reading. What’s on your Christmas list so far? Have I got you lusting over any of these products…?

Wintry Wednesday 2 – Christmas DĂ©cor Ideas| cherryblossom15

Hello! Once again I must start this post with an apology. If you hadn’t already noticed in the rather blatant title, this post is a day late! I have been very busy with life and stuff, but better late than never…

IMG_1113   IMG_1116IMG_1132   IMG_1118

The first idea I have to show you is a very easy but super cute little festive decoration to jazz up your room, apartment or house. It was super easy to make as I just took a mason like jar, some red gingham ribbon and a candle in a red holder. All I did was wrap the ribbon around the neck of the jar and tie it in a little bow and then pop the candle inside and bob’s your uncle! You could also fill the jar with sweets, baubles or even nail varnishes for a different look.

IMG_1119

The next thing I want to show you all is a little more complex. I am using it right now as an eye-makeup brush holder and I love it. I took the following items to make this masterpiece; some PVA glue, a glass, sticky tape, glitter, star shaped confetti, an old paintbrush and some pretty nail varnish. As this is a little more complex I shall do step-by-step instructions…

IMG_1120   IMG_1121

Step 1: Take your glass and use an old paintbrush to pop on a thin layer of PVA glue on the bottom 1/5 of it.

IMG_1122

Step 2: Pat on some glitter onto the wet glue.

IMG_1124

Step 3: Continue Steps 1&2 upwards until you have your desired effect, I took the glitter up to between 1/4 and 1/2 of the way up the glass.

IMG_1128

Step 4: Create a ring of sticky tape around the top of the glass to make a neat line along the top.

Step 5: Paint on some festive coloured nail polish on the rim of the glass.

Step 6: Wait for the polish to dry and then remove the sticky tape.

Step 7: Pour in your chosen style of filler, I went for festive gold and silver stars. These are optional, but I think if you want to use it as a brush holder they work really well.

IMG_1135 IMG_1134

Step 8: Pop in your brushes or pens or whatever else you want to keep in it and you’re done!

The next two ideas are not DIYs as such, but they just spruce up a room or house and they are super easy to get your hands on.

IMG_1142

The first one is candles. I love a good candle, and at the moment I am loving the Yankee Candle in Apple Spice Potpourri. It smells like appley heaven and is so wintery! Candles look great on a mantelpiece, vanity or a windowsill and just make a rom look so festive and cosy.

IMG_1553   IMG_1554

IMG_1140   IMG_1138

The next thing I have done to jazz up my room for the festive season is add fairy lights. I picked up my blue set from Homebase and the white ones from Primark (they were only £1!) These are so pretty, and I actually end up having them up all year round, but they are particularly apt around Christmas 🙂

I hope you enjoyed the festivities today, and hopefully next week’s post will be up on a Wednesday! Check out my previous Wintry Wednesday here, and I will see you again soon 🙂 xx

Wintry Wednesday 7 Happy New Year!

Hello again. And welcome to the final Wintry Wednesday of 2013 (I know it’s not Wednesday, but I wanted to get it up before 2014). This was a festive series, so this is the final one of the series. I hope you have enjoyed them, and they may reappear for 2014, who knows! I was planning on doing a 2013 favourites post, but time wasn’t on my side. If you would like to see that post, then comment below and I might get it up in January.

I wanted to write this post to say thank you for all the support I have received in my first 7 months of blogging. I was really nervous about starting this blog, and the positive feedback means so much to me. I am so amazed that I have already reached over 60 followers and it means the world to me. I hope that this little blog of mine continues to grow and develop over the next year.

I also wanted to let you know about my plans for 2014. I plan to post at least twice a week, once every Sunday and once during the week. I also wanted to let you know that as I am in Year 11 at high school, I have my GCSE mocks in January. They last 3 weeks, so most of January will be a bit rubbish on the blogging front, but I hope it will pick up again once my exams are over.

Thank you so much for all your support, and I hope 2014 is a great year for you all! Lots of love and wishes x

P.S. If you have any posts you would like to see in 2014, then please leave a comment below 🙂

Wintry Wednesday 6 Christmas Day!!!

Hello again. I am so excited that it is finally Christmas Day. I know a lot of my dear readers will be busy today, but if you are on the blogosphere I thought it would be nice to send out a Christmas message to you all.
I was thinking of doing a long festive beauty post, but everything is a bit hectic and I just thought I’d have a little Christmas moment. I just want to say thank you to everybody who has liked, commented or followed me. I really appreciate every single one of you, and I am so glad to be able to blog about the things I love. I don’t have much else to say other than merry christmas and a huge thank you for all your support over the last 7 months.
I will be putting up a mini christmas haul after Christmas, but I am going away for a few days on the 28th December, so there may be a little blogging break.
Thank you for reading this very little chat, and merry christmas!!! Ho ho ho… 🙂 x

Wintry Wednesday 4 #LovingChristmas Tag!

#LovingChristmas

Hello again. Welcome back to Wintry Wednesday. Today I am going to be doing the #LovingChristmas Tag, some of the questions are slightly similar to my Wintry Wednesday Tag, so excuse the possible repetition – I have put different answers for some questions to mix it up a bit! I was tagged by izziekiki, who you should all know by now (if you don’t, you should check her blog out – it’s amazing!). Izzie created this tag and I am so excited to be one of the first few people to be doing it!!! I will be tagging a few people at the end of this post, so keep reading! Anyway, let’s get into it…

1. What’s your favourite holiday movie?

I love to watch any uplifting and happy films at Christmas time. Being a huge fan of Disney I especially like movies like The Jungle Book, Lilo and Stitch and Aristocats!

2. What are you favourite colours on your Christmas tree?

I love dark purples and greens. They are just so warm and luxurious, but of course the traditional gold and red are great too?

3. Do you like to stay in your PJs or dress up for Christmas?

I love to open my presents in the morning in a big, fluffy and warm dressing gown. And then I dress up for when my family comes over for Christmas lunch.

4. I you could only buy 1 present for 1 person, who would it be?

Probably my sister, or maybe mum/dad! I can’t decide, I love giving presents.

5. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?

I open all of my presents on Christmas morning.

6. Have you had a real Christmas tree (not an artificial one)?

Yes! We get a real Christmas tree every year. I love the smell of a fresh Christmas tree, and we have always had real ones. I guess it’s just tradition.

7. What do you like to do over the Christmas holidays?

I normally like to spend a lot of time at home with my family. We play board games and watch films, or sometimes we go for cold winter walks. Unfortunately, this year I have GCSE mocks straight after the Christmas holidays, so I will be doing a bit of revising. I am only going to do a bit though, I want to enjoy Christmas too!

8. My one Christmas wish would be that everybody who has left me a comment or followed me or liked one of my posts has a lovely Christmas. I am so glad that I am able to write this blog and hopefully reach some people!

9. What’s your favourite Christmas smell?

I love the smell of cinnamon, which is a very festive smell. I also like the smell of gravy – I know it’s weird, but it makes me think of Christmas dinner and family!

10. What do you most look forward to on Christmas day?

I love being with my family and waking up with that lovely warm and excited feeling when you think about all the presents, food and fun that is on the way!

Thank you to Izzie for tagging me. I tag:
